I was so happy to be asked by Dan Sword to be a guest on his ‘Featured Writer Friday’ series. I’ve been following Dan for quite some time now because his tips on blogging are very helpful. I talk about my blogging journey as I’m into my third year as a blogger now and let’s face it, if anyone else is blogging and if you’re anything like myself then the blogging world is an everyday learning curve with obstacles around every corner, so I urge you to check out Dan’s site because I’m sure he’ll have covered most, if not all of your blogging conundrums.
I’ve closed off comments here, but if you fancy reading my guest post, where I talk about my experience so far as a blogger, you can catch it HERE over at Dan’s blog 😊
Have a great day 😎 Continue reading “I’m a guest on Featured Writer Friday”
I’m a big fan of Sue over at sizzlingtowardssixty.com as she’s such a fabulous role model for many, but particularly for the over fifties. Sue inspires all to keep fit and healthy, instilling positivity and enthusiasm.
I was taken aback, in fact quite honoured to be asked by her to contribute to one of her latest posts, which features five women, including ‘yours truly’, to share their ‘secrets’ to keeping active over 50.
Here’s the link to Sue’s post

Once again I am excited to introduce another guest to my series:
Amazing over 50’s
I’m inviting and featuring ‘Mid-lifers’ who are enjoying life over 50 and who are happy to shout out about great health, fitness, lifestyles, work or their achievements etc, but more importantly who are embracing this time of their lives with pride.
This month I am very happy to introduce the first male guest to this series.
A big welcome to Geoff Le Pard as my thirteenth guest. Geoff is an established author and blogger who I had the pleasure of meeting last year at the Annual Bloggers Bash as he was one of the many smiley faces who welcomed me, (with an unusual blue beard, I might add).

Here is my entry for ‘The Bloggers Bash Blog Competition 2019′. The theme this year is ‘Five’ and only 375 words can be used.
If You Only Had Five Minutes, What Would You Save?
– By Samantha Smith
“Five minutes. Save five things.” Talking calmly, he left me on the floor beaten and crying. “Five minutes isn’t long enough!” I pleaded. He walked outside, I sensed he was smiling, “Tick tock” he taunted, looking at his watch. “This house is special to me, you’re going to burn it down?” I jumped up panicking, hands on my head, scrunching my hair in my fists, spinning round on the spot. Only five things, I had to act fast. I began running from room to room, not thinking straight as he watched from outside. “Five things, five minutes,” I kept repeating to myself, “why?” I didn’t understand, but I did know he was serious. I originally posted this review around a year ago and because our recent dog walks have been quite muddy lately, I thought I’d post it again…
For as long as I can remember I have been around dogs. I grew up with dogs and as soon as I left home and was able to care for one myself well, I didn’t hesitate.
Dogs have been a major part of my life and I can’t imagine my life without them.
I have spoken in previous posts about selling up to live on a boat, well the business I sold in 2017 was a Dog Walking and Petsitting business which I set up and ran for four years and if we hadn’t made the decision to move away and live on our boat, then I’d still be there dog walking and Continue reading “#ThrowbackThursday – Mud? Who cares!”
Back in May last year, I interviewed Terry Tyler as a guest in my ‘Amazing over 50’s’ series, which you can read Here.
As many of you are already aware, Terry is an accomplished author and has many books under her belt and at the time of the interview, she had just finished UK2, the third book in her series, Project Renova. That was ten months ago and since then Terry has written and published ‘Legacy’ which is the fourth and final part to her series. Continue reading “#BookReview – Tipping Point by Terry Tyler”
We’re on holiday in Fernie, Canada at the moment, enjoying the snowboarding season, but have you noticed anything from these photo’s?
Where is everyone? Continue reading “#WordlessWednesday – Where is everyone?”
I learnt how to snowboard in my early forties. One of the main reasons for me was because both my sons were learning to snowboard at that time and they were naturals, making it look so easy. They took to it like a duck to water and as I watched them from the viewing area of the indoor ski centre, strap on their boards and slide down the slope with grace, ease and without fear I wanted to be out there with them, it was something we could do together. Oh the holidays we could have, I was quite excited at the thought. I remember approaching Jon with the idea knowing he wouldn’t hesitate because he’d be up for the challenge and Oh yeah… Continue reading “No Excuses – Lets Just Do It!”
I thought the formations of these trees on my dog walk yesterday were amazing, and although it was such a still day, you can guess which way the wind normally blows, can’t you?

A Happy New Year All!
I hope everyone had a wonderful time over the Christmas and New Year period, whether that be a quiet time or big celebrations. Continue reading “Here’s To Another Year In The Blogging World”
I first wrote this post in February last year when we’d only been living on the boat for three months and were short on space. Well, this ‘utility room’ is the most useful room on board and it would be so difficult to live without it now. It is a spare room with double bed, and yes we have had guests sleep in it. It is the cats room, where the litter tray is and where they are fed, it’s a great store room, cloak room and it’s where the washing machine lives and we have lines up along the ceiling creating a great drying space. It’s proved to be a brilliant room so thought I’d share it again. Here’s the post again explaining how it was created:
In October of 2017 my partner and I picked up the last of the packing boxes, handed over the keys and walked away from our house which we’d lived in for 14 happy years. We did this with certainty in our minds that we were doing the right thing as time had very quickly, but inevitably moved on, my boys had moved away and were happily getting on with their own lives so it was now time to think out of the box, move away from a dangerously boring ‘rut’ we could’ve easily have settled in to and do something a little different ourselves.
We moved onto our canal boat, aptly named, ‘Head in the Clouds’. No, it’s not beautifully finished, in fact there’s still quite a lot to fix, maintain and build, but hey… “we’ll manage to live on it while we finish doing it up right?” we had both said. Continue reading “#ThursdayThrowback – How To Create a Utility Room on a Boat”
It’s that time of year again when myself and my better half start looking forward to getting back on our boards and tripping off to find snow up in the mountains somewhere. These are just a few photographs of last years trip to Fernie, Canada and the stunning scenery which took my breath away.
