General Data Protection Regulation (EU)
Firstly, if you have subscribed to my blog, then thank you, it means a lot!
If you are happy being subscribed to my blog and don’t mind the emails I send then you do not have to do anything…But…I need to ensure you are happy with how your details are used if you do subscribe to my blog.
What personal data does my website collect and why?
On my blog/website you as a visitor are able to subscribe, there is a box on the right hand side of my blog pages. If you would like to subscribe then click and you are able to leave your details: name and email only. Obviously you do not have to subscribe, but if you do then it means you will receive an email telling you when I post something new on my blog. Your details and email address is ONLY used for this purpose. WordPress stores your email which I can view, but your email is not used for anything other than letting you know of a recent blog post on my website. I do not share your details with anyone else.
Please note, you can unsubscribe at any time by either clicking the unsubscribe button at the bottom of an email or by contacting me directly.
As a blogger, it is wonderful to receive comments relating to a post. When visitors leave comments on my site, wordpress collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. I am then able to approve comments, they are shown underneath my blog post and I am able to reply.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
If images to the website are used, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
I have contact forms for anyone who would like to contact me through my blog/website. When a contact form is filled in by you and sent, an email is sent to me with the information you have provided on the form. I am then able to respond to your query via email. I do not keep the form you have filled in or use your information for marketing or for any reason other than to respond to your query.
If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have a WordPress account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
