A Day Of Contrasts

I awoke this morning really early, to the sound of very noisy birds, singing & twittering to their hearts content, not caring at all that there are people trying to sleep on this boat. I was quite excited because today I was travelling to London. ย

It was 4:30a.m, too early to get up so I lay there listening, not annoyed at the noisy birds at all because their songs sounded so beautiful, a little repetitive, but quite delicately sung. The ducks were active too, splashing around & quacking loudly, probably warning off the local heron which I’ve been watching for the last two weeks, he’s quite a brilliant fish catcher, but worryingly he’s also been eyeing up the little ducklings, which I eagerly count every time I see them. IMG_0851There’s been 11 now (down from the original 13) for almost 3 weeks so, although I love seeing the handsome heron around I do wish he’d find another fishing spot away from our fluffy babies. As I lay there listening to the swans nibbling the algae from the bottom of the boat as well as all the other lovely nature sounds happening in our little bit of outside world, I also felt a little apprehension at the thought of going to London on my own, finding my way to the hotel and then to the venue in the morning, meeting a room full of new people who are established bloggers and authors – Yup I was definitely nervous, but totally looking forward to it!

I titled this post as ‘A day of contrasts’, because this morning I woke up in a boat, in the country, listening to nature, took the dogs on a glorious walk along the canal, then a few hours later I was walking around the busy world of London where everyone looks so serious and rush’s everywhere. ย I was figuring out how to get around by ‘Tube’ and sometimes just stood, people watching, listening to the ‘hum’ of the city and the noise of traffic. ย IMG_0956I found my way to the hotel in Earl’s Court, checked in, threw my bag on the bed and decided to go straight out for a walk as it was still light. ย It didn’t take me long before I was drawn into Wagamama’s enjoying a very nice noodle dish with a large glass of Pinot Grigio sat at the window watching the busy world go by outside. ย I have to say, I had a lovely hour to myself just people watching.

I’m sat in my hotel room now while typing this, watching TV and wondering how long it’s been since I slept in a single bed! I’m bound to fall out!

An early start tomorrow to tackle the London underground again and find my way to the Bloggers Bash venue ๐Ÿ™‚ ย Looking forward to meeting everyone there!

I’m so happy to have been nominated this year in the category of Best Newcomer too, which is amazing, so wish me luck folks!

It should be a good day – I’ll let you know how it goes in the next few days.

Have a great weekend all and a big congratulations to Harry and Meghan ๐Ÿ™‚ย
